Horgan Welcomes Year of the Rabbit

Across British Columbia and around the world, people are celebrating the Lunar New Year and ushering in the Year of the Rabbit. The Rabbit is a symbol of endurance, compassion and creativity.

For many people of Asian heritage, the Lunar New Year is a time to reflect on the past and look optimistically to the future. It is also a time to recognize good fortune, honour ancestors and celebrate with family and the community.

Lunar New Year is the longest and most important festivity in the Chinese calendar.  This occasion provides an excellent opportunity for us to think about the tremendous contributions that members of the Asian communities have made to this province’s rich and diverse heritage.

As we look ahead to the Year of the Rabbit, I wish you and your family a year filled with opportunity, success and prosperity. Gung Hay Fat Choy!
